Condos, Co-ops Are Selling At Torrid Pace

Online Brokerage Firm Condos have been an especially hot market segment since 1999, when prices began advancing faster than single-family home prices, Molony said. The Northeast has seen the most rapid increase in prices because it has the tightest inventory, he said.

Security Broker Dealer The median price of a condo or co-op in the Northeast is $183,000, up nearly 22 percent from a year ago, he said.

Coldwell Banker Residential A prime unit priced at fair market value sells right away, said Lorna Chen, chief executive officer of The Chen Agency. "If it's on the market more than three months, it's priced too high or it's not desirable for some reason."

Freight Broker The Chen Agency serves Fort Lee, Edgewater and Cliffside Park, where a two-bedroom home with a good view can go for more than $500,000. Anything under $400,000 "is very difficult to find," she said.
