As part of its substitute plan to build Xanadu, Mills agreed to donate the tract to preservationists.

Freight Broker But other environmentalists say it's not time to give up the fight to save as much of the Meadowlands as possible, even a piece of swamp marooned in a parking lot.

Freight Brokerage Tittel, executive director of the New Jersey branch of the Sierra Club, goes so far as to suggest that his organization would consider suing to prevent the wetlands from being filled. His hope is that such a threat might persuade Xanadu's developers to abandon the wetlands site so they can proceed more quickly with a smaller development on existing blacktop. "This is just too big a mall for the region to handle," he said.
