In this role, Mr. Katz is responsible for the Company`s Strategic Development Group, which includes Merger and Acquisitions, Strategic Investments, Business Planning and the activities of the Cendant Internet Group. As Cendant`s Chief Strategic Officer, Mr. Katz has been directly involved in and responsible for all aspects of Cendant and HFS?Ecorporate development through more than $25 billion of strategic transactions including Galileo International, Cheap Tickets, Coldwell Banker, Avis, RCI, PHH and NCP and the formation of NRT Incorporated, Move.com and the Company soon to be launched Travel Portal. Mr. Katz also led the Companys strategic realignment under which eighteen non-core businesses were divested and more than $4.5 billion in proceeds were generated. Additionally, Mr. Katz is Chairman and CEO of the Companys newly formed Travel Distribution Division and also serves as chairman of Galileo International. The Travel Distribution Division includes Galileo International, Wizcom International, Cendants Travel Agency business and Cheap Tickets upon completion of its acquisition. Prior to assuming his new responsibilities, Mr. Katz was Senior Executive Vice President, Strategic and Business Development, Chief Executive Officer of Cendant Internet Group (CIG), Senior Executive Vice President, Strategic Development and Senior Vice President, Acquisitions for Cendant and its predecessor, HFS Inc., which he joined in January 1996. Before joining Cendant, Mr. Katz was a Vice President of Dickstein Partners Inc. from June 1993 to December 1995. In addition, Mr. Katz was the Co-Chairman of Saber Capital Inc., a private investment firm and served as an Associate and then a Vice President of the Blackstone Group, an investment and merchant bank, where he focused on leveraged buy-out transactions including the purchases of the initial companies which formed HFS Incorporated. He started his career as a Financial Analyst in the Mergers & Acquisitions Department of Drexel Burnham Lambert. Mr. Katz is a director of Trilegiant Corporation, Go2 Systems, Inc., NRT Incorporated, Entertainment Publications, Netgrocer and Specialty Catalog Corp. and is an observer to the Board of Homestore.com. Mr. Katz received his B.A. in Economics Magna Cum Laude from Columbia University in 1986.
