AOL Launches Secondary Ticket Marketplace
AOL Launches Secondary Ticket Marketplace
TicketsNow.com Joins StubHub as AOL Ticketing Partners; AOL.com Becomes One of the Most Complete Ticketing Websites Online
NEW YORK, August 23, 2005 - AOL.com is now a one-stop-shopping resource for competitively priced "secondary tickets" - those available for resale by the consumer -- at AOL's new Ticket Marketplace, available to everyone on the Web at www.AOLCityGuide.com.By combining the ticket inventories of TicketsNow.com, a leading online destination for secondary tickets, with AOL's current partner, StubHub, the leading open marketplace dedicated to tickets, the new AOL Ticket Marketplace now offers buyers easy access to a vast selection of both primary and secondary tickets. In addition, individual sellers can post their tickets for sale to one of the largest audiences of prospective buyers on the Web.
The AOL Ticket Marketplace makes AOL's Ticket Center one of the most comprehensive online resource for both primary and secondary tickets in one easy-to-use service. The AOL Ticket Center offers tickets to more than 40,000 events at more than 6,000 venues.
"When we launched AOL's ticketing service four years ago, we simplified the ticket-buying experience by bringing the inventories of all the major ticket services under one roof - something that had never been done before," said Scott Richman, Vice President and General Manager, AOL(r) CityGuide. "With the launch of the Ticket Marketplace, we're taking it one step further by creating a centralized home for secondary tickets to provide a new level of customer convenience."
"The Ticket Marketplace is a remarkable new resource for Web users," said Kenneth Dotson, Chief Marketing Officer for TicketsNow. "We are pleased to partner with a company that shares our commitment to provide safe and convenient ways to purchase event tickets on the secondary market."
"StubHub is pleased to team with AOL CityGuide to continue our support of the AOL community," said StubHub CEO Jeff Fluhr. "Any sports, music, or theatre fan can now buy or sell their tickets even more conveniently through our open marketplace."
The Ticket Marketplace offers a variety of tickets for all major concert tours and sporting events. Fans can also sign up for AOL's Ticket Connect Alert for up-to-the-minute information about new tours going on sale, presales and special ticket offers.
