As far back as the early '60s, Pacemaker had a 30-footer that with a pair of Chrysler Crusaders would do better than 32 knots. In 1977, Ocean began building a 40-foot fiberglass convertible sport-fisherman that ran better than 30 knots. That boat set the standard for other production boat builders. In 1994, Ocean raised the bar once more with the introduction of its new 53-footer, a 40-knot boat.
